Lost Ring Recovered – Just in Time on the Jersey Shore, LBI
While I was at work, I received a call from Ashley. She and her husband David had spent the day enjoying the sun with their kids at the beach, but things took a stressful turn. Ashley had removed her ring to apply sunscreen and placed it in the cup holder of a beach chair. Hours later, as they packed up to leave, they realized the ring was missing.

We arranged to meet that same evening back at the beach. David met me at the dune walkover and used earlier photos to pinpoint exactly where they had been sitting. With daylight fading, I got to work on a grid search.
I found a few coins… and then, a ring. But it didn’t quite match the description I remembered — Ashley had mentioned something about emeralds and diamonds, and this one featured emerald-cut diamonds all the way around. I wasn’t sure it was the right one, so I set it aside and kept searching for another 30 minutes. Still nothing else turned up.
Back at my truck, I reviewed everything I had found and took a closer look at that ring. It was yellow gold with emerald-cut diamonds around the entire band — maybe I had it all along?
I called Ashley and asked her for a more detailed description. Her response?
“It’s yellow gold with emerald-cut diamonds around the band.”
Boom. That was it.
