beach haven NJ, LBI, cross found with metal detector
Lost Cross Recovered on Long Beach Island (LBI)
I received a call from Chad regarding a lost cross necklace on the beach at Long Beach Island, NJ. He explained that while playing football with friends, he had been tackled, and when he stood up, he realized his necklace had broken—the cross was gone. Fortunately, Chad was still at the beach, and I was available to head straight over to help.
When I arrived, Chad met me and walked me through the exact areas they had been playing. He pointed out the spot where the chain had broken, so I began by searching a 30-foot-wide section of sand. Aside from a few coins, the cross was nowhere in sight. I expanded the search to a second area where they had been catching passes—again, no luck.
Puzzled, I returned to the original location and made an important adjustment: I changed the frequency on my metal detector. That tweak paid off. Within moments, I picked up a faint signal, and sure enough—Chad’s cross was safely in my scoop.
